Ajanta Caves

All Ajanta Cave ground photos below are compliments of Chaitanya and Roberta Borade

My very good friends, Chaitanya Borade and Roberta Borade, while visiting family in India for their wedding, took a day to visit Ajanta Caves. They took all the photos here. As I learn more about Ajanta Caves I will add details here. As can be seen in the below photos, the temple cave system is simply amazing. All caves and carvings have been cut out of solid rock, and allegedly the vast majority of the rock removed in the carving/shaping process in antiquity is not at the site. Chaitanya and I are planning a motorcycle trip around India, so I plan to soon have hundreds of pictures to share.

Looking across the site, with a permanent resident looking on.
One of the cave/temple ornate entrances.
Even the ceilings are perfectly carved.
To me the main item in this cave smacks at something technical. I can’t help but think of Dr. Konastantin Meyl’s theory and work on the ancient Greek temples (eg, Temple of Apollo at Delphi, the Pantheon of Rome, et al) being enormous low-watt magnetrons (microwave generators).
This is the same item from the previous image, just close up.
